Peaceful Morning
My mornings are getting more peaceful with each day as I begin a new chapter in my life. The painting, Peaceful Morning, represents one of those beginnings in a local marina in Wilmington, and reflects the calm that comes with just rolling along with the flow.
Besides loving to paint nautical scenes, the complementary color scheme of blue and orange is always a personal favorite. I accepted the challenge of finding a light and dark pattern to join together in a puzzle like fashion, creating softer edges with less detail in the background while capturing the light and a focal point in the foreground. That play of light seems to be a signature of what attracts me to a scene. The water has areas of gray mixed with bright stripes of various blues and sparkles to excite the eye. Of course reflections of warmer colors float throughout. I have to admit that creating the vertical pole elements was a color treat. Many people might see dark gray poles, but I saw greens and oranges of various hues and values and admittedly returned several times to embellish just a little more.
I hope you can find the visual path I created for your eye to explore this painting. Yes, there are many elements, but I personally still experience the peacefulness of the encounter of a moment at the marina.
