Memories of the Marsh

I love to help others remember their favorite places with an original painting that hopefully creates a mood and more than just replicates the scene.  My client commissioned me to capture a moment on a piece of property that was being sold, and she and her husband now live on the west coast.  I received such great information about her desires for the painting, that my job was relatively easy.

The client shared her preferences on three of my paintings to let me know what she liked about my work.  She was clear about capturing the autumn colors of the marsh and what shows that up better than a rising sun?  A blue heron was desired and had to be a focal point as any animal or human is so different in a painting that it is automatically the center of attention.  Of course a high tide contributed to a variety of shapes in the landscape and offered a repetition of the cooler sky colors into the warmer grass areas.  Cooler and grayer colors along with diagonal lines created a feeling of depth on an otherwise two dimensional plane.  Directional lines and softer edges give a feeling of breezes and grasses gently waving while the light offers a sense of the time of day.

My client will name this piece when she decides on a name that fits and has meaning to her.  I'm honored to be chosen to create this memory and appreciate the opportunity as well as the affirmation.
